I recently moved and am looking forward to the summer in Somerville (hehe). With summer comes great local produce. Thankfully, Somerville has a farmers market that is phenomenal (I visited last Saturday, I’ll explain in a minute).
On top of this, I will be finishing my food study in April and am looking to stay healthy since I’ll be out on my own. I had done a farm share in the past and knew that this summer would be a great time to enroll in one again. Alas, there’s a whole blog post about them! Albeit a little outdated. So I did what any good engineer would do; I analyzed each option and picked the best. I have included my analysis in this post for your viewing pleasure.
I love CSA’s because they help support the local economy, they provide me with veggies on a regular routine, and they are very cost effective ($20-$30 for veggies a week, I think that’s a steal). Bonus, mine has an egg share!
Here are the results:

I picked Freedom Food Farm! Their customer support was really friendly, they are one of the highest values, they have pick your own which is within a decent drive, and the have egg shares! They are at the Farmer’s market on Saturdays, so I stopped in and paid them there (to get the early bird deal and not pay the online registration fee!)
Here are links to the other farms in case you’re interested.
